Third Trimester

Baby Z’s Position

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

31-weeks-positionAt our last doctor’s appointment, it was noted that the baby was probably breech, since his heartbeat was up under my ribs. At today’s appointment, the doctor had no problem finding the heartbeat - it was everywhere! Upon examining my abdomen, she said it felt like the head was low and the back and butt go up my right side (so I am obviously lop-sided) and the legs and feet are on my left side. So - pretty close to this picture! (Click the image to see it bigger.)

The Nursery

Monday, May 18th, 2009

The nursery has come a long way. It used to be a place where we put our dogs when we’d leave the house. Then the room was rented out for about six months to a friend from college. After that, the room became Andy’s workshop. Now it is definitely a baby’s room!

The dresser was mine when I was a baby and possibly my mom’s as well. It has had several coats of paint. Andy painted it white and we replaced the knobs to match the room. The twin bed is mine from when I first moved out of my parents’ house. The headboard was from my first twin bed as a child. We picked up the glider off of craigslist. The nightstand was something I had that Andy painted to match the dresser. The crib came from ebay and Andy fixed it up with some new bolts and some sanding and painting for cosmetic repair. It turned out great! The closet system and the changing table are also craigslist finds. All we need is a baby now!

Baby Prep Updates

Monday, May 11th, 2009

The nursery is almost finished. Andy and I plan on painting Travel Systema couple pieces of furniture white tonight. (We’ll see if that gets done…) Then there’s just laundry and putting everything away. Saturday we received a travel system from Grammy and Papa. It includes a three-wheeled sport stroller, an infant car seat that will attach to the stroller and a car base. Andy put it together and its sitting in our living room. It’s so exciting to think how soon we will actually be using it!

May Shower

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

I had my first baby shower at Bob Evans in Mansfield last weekend. It was a really good time! I got some really nice stuff for the baby. Such cute clothes and lots of books! Here are some of the highlights.

Me…complain?

3D Week 28According to this 3D pregnancy website, this is the development stage our baby is at. Looks more like a baby than the first photos we saw of him. I really can’t wait to see what he looks like. I tell Andy all the time that I hope our little boy looks just like his daddy.

The last couple days have been hard on my back. It doesn’t feel like the same sciatic pain I felt before. I didn’t have to move to get a pinch in my sciatic nerve and recently I’ve been hurting when I do move. It hurts mostly when walking or going down the stairs or just being in a bad position.

I feel like the baby has been pushing up where my lungs should be. I sound like I’m panting. I even sometimes feel like I’m panting, like I’m not getting a lot of air with each breath. I have to remind myself to sit up straighter and that sometimes helps.

I think the arches fell out of my feet.

I’ve gotten some BIG zits this week. One on my belly and then one on my neck.

I received a foot rub (nice!) from my hubby last night, who agreed the arches had fallen, but also informed me that my left foot was swollen.

My hips ache if I don’t roll over enough when I’m in bed.

My belly button doesn’t hurt anymore but it still looks stressed out.

Less than three months to go!

What is to become of my belly button?

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

I’m a little worried over the fate of my belly button. It has been getting more and more shallow. Which is fine. You can barely see it because it doesn’t cast much of a shadow. My concern is the hole above my navel where I used to wear jewelry. It’s actually two holes though, one where the piercing went in and one where it came out. I haven’t worn any navel jewelry for about 5 years. The skin in between the two holes has become uncomfortable. It’s red and a little sore. I’d post a picture but I wouldn’t want to gross any one out.

Last night I thought that I could use a butterfly band-aid to give it some “slack.” I tried one of those little band-aids because we have so many of them but it wouldn’t stick. So I am a little worried about what is to become of my belly button. Will my navel “pop out”? Will that relieve the tension and stop the stretching of that little piece of skin? Or will the outcome be something less undesirable(ew)? I guess, we’ll see.
